Army Personnel Testing Account (APT) Test Information

Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT)


AFCT reevaluates in-service personnel who wish to improve their Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) scores in order to qualify for reenlistment, a MOS change, Warrant Officer training, Officer Candidate School or Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)

ASVAB evaluates aptitudes of high school students and individuals wishing to enlist in the Armed Forces or in-service personnel wishing to be recruited by another branch of the service. (AR 601-270, Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), 23 Mar 07, for retest policies on the ASVAB).

Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB)

DLAB evaluates the aptitude of in-service personnel nominated for language training to learn a language in one of four level of difficulty categories (see AR 11-6, dated 14 Dec 02, Para. 3-3.)

Language Proficiency Testing

Language Proficiency Testing is given to Army members who have received foreign language training at Government expense, who claim knowledge of a foreign language as a result of civilian education, residence in a foreign country, or Family usage, or whose records indicate previous language study.

Oral Proficiency Interviews (OPI) are given by the Defense Foreign Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). To schedule an OPI, Test Control Officers (TCOs) should visit the OPI Authorization and Reporting System (OARS) at https://oars.languagetesting.com/.
