Research that Leads to Effective Army Decision Making

The Institutional Research and Assessment Division (IRAD)’s primary mission is to conduct research that provides decision support information to ArmyU leadership regarding Army learning enterprise initiatives and to provide expert technical research assistance for ArmyU in order to create an innovative learning environment, grow critical and creative thinkers and problem solvers, develop a world class faculty, and contribute to the Army as a learning organization.

Guided by Army University objectives and priorities, IRAD has the responsibility for planning and managing research programs. Specifically, IRAD formulates research plans and programs, managing a team of technical professionals to carry out those plans and conduct the research; interpreting the findings in terms of how they meet research needs and objectives; and ensuring that supporting contractor work accomplishes its objectives. A significant focus of duties is to use research to provide decision support information to Army University leaders in order to assist them in determining solutions to complex problems.
