Course Information: To provide selected commissioned officers, warrant officers, NCOs, and DOD civilians from all services with a working knowledge of unit deployments utilizing all modes of transportation. This course qualifies graduates as unit movement officers or unit movement personnel capable of planning, organizing, and conducting unit movements training and operations. This course is applicable and available to both Active and Reserve Component personnel.

Scope: This course prepares the student to assume the duties of a unit movement officer/NCO, and includes instruction on the following: unit deployment planning; unit movement plans; planning and conduct of movement training; COMPASS/OEL; unit movement automation; preparation of unit supplies and equipment for movement; preparation of hazardous cargo for movement by surface mode; planning and conduct of CONUS highway operations; convoy documentation; marshalling procedures; use of containers in unit deployment; rail movement planning; railway equipment characteristics and use; blocking, bracing, packing, crating, and tie down procedures for all modes of transport; rail load-out exercise; host nation rail movement operations; inland waterways; strategic airlift; airfield (formerly A/DACG) operations; preparation of supplies, equipment and personnel for movement by air; building a 463L pallet; unit deployment through a sea port of embarkation (SPOE); use of radio frequency/automated information technology (RF/AIT) systems; Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration (RSOI); and redeployment.
