Course Information: The purpose of the course is to educate, train, develop, and grow adaptive tactical and operational logistics leaders. This course focuses on integrating sustainment functions to support Unified Land Operations. This program enhances lifelong learning teamwork and collaboration as well as critical thinking and problem solving at the tactical and operational levels in order to meet Department of the Army level outcomes for the 21st Century Soldier and to develop PME trained logisticians into effective support operations personnel. This course focuses on logistics planning and distribution supply chain management learning areas of LLDS to develop Game Changers and Critical Thinkers in order to meet the desired outcomes for our Corps of logistics professionals. The desired outcomes are: Plan and execute logistics operations at the tactical level and operate effectively as a member of a support operations staff.

Scope: Support Operations Course is conducted at Fort Lee, VA as well as at selected installations that request an onsite class. The course provides an overview of the sustainment WfF and how it relates to the other WfFs at the division and brigade combat team level. Support Operation Course outcomes based education is designed to grow logistics leaders that are able to plan manage and adaptively execute effective support to Globally Responsive sustainment and Unified Action in support of Decisive Operations in a complex operational environment. The first week of instruction focuses on the basics of tactical logistics to include the planning and management of support operations. This includes lecture and discussion on the management of maintenance supply and transportation operations in support of tactical forces. The second week of the course focuses on integrating the concepts learned in the first week into logistics planning using the military decision making process and culminates with a student developed concept of sustainment and sustainment rehearsal. This course meets the educational requirements as specified in DA PAM 600-3 to award the Logistics LG Branch designation.
