Course Information: To train enlisted personnel to perform field level maintenance on automotive and armament related systems and components of M109 series self-propelled Howitzers and M992 series ammunition carriers.

Scope: 1. To provide the students a Course Introduction, and training on the Army Two Level Maintenance Doctrine, Maintenance Publications, Maintenance Shop Safety, Identification, Care and Use of Hand Precision and Power Tools, Environmental Awareness, Maintenance Forms and Records, Bearing, Gaskets and Seals, Fuels, Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants and Perform Battle Damage Assessment and Repair (BDAR). 2. To train the students on the Electrical Test Equipment, Basic Electronic Maintenance Trainer, and Introduction to the M109A6/M992. Students will also be introduced to Troubleshooting the Master Relay Circuits, Maintaining Starting and Charging Systems, Troubleshooting the Air Cleaner Blower Motor Assembly, Troubleshooting the Travel Lock and Cab Electrical System, Introduction and Replacement of the Auxiliary Unit (APU) Generator, and Troubleshooting the Automatic Extinguisher System (Kiddie). 3. To train the students on the Construction and Operation of Engines, Troubleshooting the 8V71T Engine and Fuel System, Removal and Installation of the Power pack Assembly, Removal and Installation of the Starter and Generator Assembly. Students will also be taught the Fundamentals and replacement of the Transmission, Final Drive, and Transfer Assembly, Troubleshooting the Brake System, Replacement of the Engine Cooling System Assembly, Replacement of the Fuel Pump Assembly and Replacement of the Road Wheel Assembly. - "All CASCOM courses will introduce the major principles of Character Development during in-processing, and will further reinforce that information in subsequent lessons as applicable." - In the ATRRS course catalogue entry for each course (when that doc is submitted to TOMA for Validation). - Add entry to the school online course catalog (where applicable).
