The Army University invites you to submit your abstracts for the 2024 Army University Learning Symposium, which will be held in person June 24-28, 2024, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as well as virtually June 11-14, 2024.

The symposium theme for 2024 is “Artificial Intelligence Applications for Learning.”

The symposium is a biennial event that aims to exchange ideas and promote cutting-edge learning sciences between military, industry and academia. It will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, demonstrations, and table displays on various topics related to artificial intelligence and military learning and education.

The symposium welcomes abstracts from researchers, educators, practitioners, and students who are interested in sharing their work and insights on the following topics based on the Army Learning Concept (ALC) 2030-2040:

  • Learning Assisted by Artificial Intelligence - Education Management and Delivery; Learning and Assessment; Empowering Faculty/Staff and Enhancing Teaching; Lifelong Learning.
  • Learning Organizations - Organizational Learning Processes; Individual and Collective Learning Tools; Integrating Continuous Learning into Culture, Processes, and Infrastructure; Women, Peace, and Security.
  • Learning Science and Technologies - Immersive and Engaging Experiential Events; Embedded Intelligent Tutoring; VR, IR, XR; Synthetic Training Environment (STE) as a Core Functionality.
  • Learning Data - Common, Standardized, Shareable, and Secure Data Standards; Holistic Network-Centric Architecture; Competency Frameworks; ATIS.
  • Learning Strategies: Transfer of Knowledge - Outcomes Based Military Education (OBME); Learner-Centric Principles; Tailored Design/Delivery of Learning.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  1. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and should include the title, author(s), affiliation(s), and contact information of the corresponding author.
  2. Abstracts should be written in English and clearly explain the research, concept, tool, or other content to be presented.
  3. Abstracts should be submitted online through the symposium website by February 15, 2024.
  4. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and accepted abstracts will be notified by March 1, 2024.
  5. Accepted abstracts will be assigned to presentations, demonstrations, posters, tables, or panels based on the preference of the author(s) and the availability of slots.
  6. Abstracts should fall under at least one topic area. Each abstract can be submitted in up to three topic areas.
