Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Matthew E. Ladd enlisted in the Army on July 23rd, 1996, completing One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, KY where he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty of 19K, Armor Crewman.

CSM Ladd has deployed to Iraq for combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2004 and 2008-2009) and Operation Inherent Resolve (2019-2020) and Afghanistan for combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2011-2012) and Operation Resolute Support (2016-2017).

CSM Ladd’s military education include the Warriors Leader’s Course, the Advanced Leader’s Course (Commandants’ list), Senior Leader’s Course (Commandants’ list), and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class #65.

CSM Ladd’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Valorous Unit Citation with one oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Purple Heart Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, 8th award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 5, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 4. His badges include the Combat Action Badge, and he is the recipient of the Order of Saint George Medal – Bronze Award and the Order of Saint Maurice-Legionnaire.
